Product Management Coaching – from hands-on PM to product leadership
Certified systemic coach (DBVC and IOBC), with experience in every product role up to CPO.
Most of us stumble into product management, and hardly anyone gets proper training afterward. In coaching, I pass on what I have learned myself in every role – from product management assistant to CPO – and work with you on the questions that are really on your mind right now.

Why product people come to coaching:
The next step is rarely the obvious one.
Three examples:
From PM to senior PM
“But I deliver.” And that’s true: you deliver reliably, your team likes you, the stakeholders are happy.
In the promotion conversation, it suddenly no longer matters how much you deliver, but how well you decide.
What made you good so far isn’t enough for the next step.
The first leadership role
“Finally, I get to shape things.” You became Head of Product because you did the best product work.
Three months later, you’re hardly doing any product work. Instead, it’s performance conversations, budget rounds, and alignment with the executive team.
The new role feels like a different profession – and nobody prepared you for it.
Product leadership
“Now it’s about the big picture.” As CPO or VP Product, you’re responsible for strategy and organization.
The big picture then means enabling teams, delivering an AI strategy to the board, and explaining why the roadmap has slipped.
At the very top, people you can talk to as equals become rare.
Sound familiar?
Completely normal. Each of these roles is a new profession, not just a new level.
In coaching, we sort out what moves you forward.
“Jan is an exceptional asset to our crew: hands-on product management around our data platform, development of innovative data products, and leadership coaching. He brings many years of practical experience to our context, because he has sat in these roles himself. I take directly applicable ideas away from every coaching session. Highly recommended for anyone looking for real change.”
How the coaching works

The coaching is grounded in the craft: discovery and delivery, strategy, OKRs, stakeholders, and leadership – based on your concrete cases, not the textbook. I bring methods I have used myself and tell you honestly where they snag in practice.
At the same time, I’m a certified systemic coach (DBVC and IOBC). So I don’t just give you answers; I ask the questions that help you find your own. Enabling rather than dictating – so that you don’t just know frameworks but internalize them.
This is becoming more important right now. When AI delivers specs, prototypes, and analyses in minutes, what sets you apart is no longer your speed but your judgment. And because I’m founding a company of my own right now, ganzheit, I don’t coach from memory: deciding under uncertainty is my everyday work, not something I look back on.
Who the coaching is for:
- product managers on their way to the next level of seniority
- new leaders, from product lead to head of product
- CPOs and founders looking for a sparring partner with a product background
- teams that want to go deeper into a topic like discovery or OKRs together
Sessions take place remotely or in person in Hamburg. I talk about how coaching can change an entire product organization with Tobias Freudenreich in episode 20 of the PRODUKTKRAFT Podcast.
